Not wanting for you to get too downhearted but it is possible to come up
against a board so badly damaged that you cannot realistically repair
it. I have one here right now. The track corrosion is massive, it even
travelled up the earth wire and onto the pot board and has corroded
several pots too. Yes, I can fix the track corrosion with wire. But the
corrosion has spread into most of the chips on the memory board (and
some on the effects card) and has eaten away the internal connections.
Only chip replacement will do. So far I have replaced half of the chips
and the board is still not working. It is now time to give up on this
approach and the price of the repair (I repair and design synths for a
living) has exceeded the cost of the unit. I guess if you are not paying
for time, you may be able to keep on going until you have replaced every
part on that board.

But what are my alternatives for this one? Well, I could strip it down
and sell it piece by piece. Or wait for someone cleverer than me to come
up with a modern board replacement for the whole memory board.
