You can snip the battery out no problem. You just won't have on board patch storage when the synth is turned off for a while. Solder in any flat CR type battery + holder (costs pence) and you are back and functioning. I cut out the varta time bomb, repaired 1 trace, soldered in a new IC and flat batter holder (can be tight so will need the right angle) and a CR-2032 or equiv and it works fine.

Subject: [PolySix] New (tome) Polysix
Hello, I've just come across a sweat deal on a Polysix. It's in great shape, has the original box, pedals everything. It came from a storage unit auction and honestly it looks like it was sealed up in a time capsule for the last 20 or so years.
Anyway, i have this great synth and i've checked the battery and it's not leaking or bulging or anythign like that. but i want to take it out....i don't want to risk letting it go and then ruining it. So my question is can i simply remove this battery until i can have it replaced with a newer battery and will my polysix still function in manual with the battery out. I think it will i just want to be careful with this.
I've seen lots of cool conversions; even some people who put in a battery pack that ran on triple a batteries which is super conveneint and probably one of the best ideas i've seen. If anyone has any info on how to just replace the battery that would be cool, too.
