Does the synth sound OK otherwise?

Here are some "duh" things...
- the effects are turned up (they're kinda noisy)
- you're using the wrong output level and have the volume cranked to hear it
- the headphones (if that's what you're using) are in the "OUTPUT" jack

OK, stupid things to ask, but sometimes you miss the simple/obvious stuff. :-)
