| Yeah, I got to see the Moodies in Pittsburgh's Civic Arena... I guess early-to-mid 70s. Fine show! (As well as Yes - MANY times, and Wakeman's "Journey to the Center of the Earth" w FULL ochestra; front band was Gary Wright "Dreamweaver!" Post Ian McD./Greg Lake King Crimson played a few times locally as well - always amazing, too!) To me, the Mellotron remains one of the most AMAZING instruments through a big, serious sound system! Actually, I heard Timothy Leary as a guest lecturer here in L.A. many years ago. Brilliant! Loved it! Thought he was incredible! It IS true, his inadvertent "product" surely led to many of the musical journeys we've been on, whether we sampled it or not! Surely had its influence - and beyond that, the Mellotron surely helped us sprout wings! SO glad it's on the rebound, as well. Ya hear 'em ALL the time (Audi ads? Pretty sure those are the ones, surely others, too), and lots of people use 'em at least in the studio.
Pretty amazing (and sad, the disrespect) about the Moody Blues equipment being so carelessly piled up at the defunct Hard Rock Park! Uncased guitars? Really?!?!? Geez! But what a way to get a truly famous, magnificent Mellotron! Wow!!! Enjoying this site! And see, flying's not so off-topic after all! We all have our ways! (-: (Btw, my sis is a pilot - I've been gliding w her in Hemet. It IS an amazing experience!)
