Just heard Webb interviewed on NPR several days ago. He said Harris  (despite verbal cues) continued to sing MacArthurs Park. So Webb gave up and accepted that singer have quirks and will change lyrics despite the composers wishes.

Aside from the weird lyrics, it's a great piece of music.


Story has it when Jimmy Webb wrote MacArthur Park no one would record it (The Association turned it down). So they found Richard Harris (a non-singing actor) to record it. The rest is history...


RH cannot remember a thing about recording it. Hardly a surprise.
