There is even a market for instruments would be immediatey identifiable. Unlike famous art, known instruments are quietly traded and ransomed back and sometimes fought over. I know many people that have to make sure their homes are extra secure or they would be robbed.  I have lost a modular Moog and a Les Paul to thieves and I have had to do some cloak and dagger shit to recover gear for people I have worked for. Insurance is hard to get , hard to claim and really expensive.
