You are right of course. The WX5 "Flute Fingering Mode" has more to do with lips than fingers. In Flute mode, the pitch jumps up one octave when lip pressure is applied simulating the "overblow" octave shift on an acoustic flute. Once you are familiar with that lip pressure octave shift, it works nicely with whatever voice you are using. (Trumpet for example).
