Yes it's true.

While on a badly needed vacation I got to thinking. What kind of instrument would best benefit from porting into the iPad. The Melodica!

I have just about finished up the design for the breath interface that will allow you to actually blow into the iPad while depressing the keys on the screen. It really is amazing! The only drawback was that since you can't actually feel the keys like on a real Melodica, it is difficult to know where they are. To resolve this, I have come up with a little clip on mirror as a training tool.

This week I will begin working in the studio to digitally sample several Melodicas, including the HM-26, 27 & 32 Piano models, The HM-36 Professional and the HM-900 Soprano and 901 Alto Melodicas. We are working out a software algorithm that will allow for the subtleties of breathing in and out of the breath interface and to sense wind force and expression.

Because of the complexity of this undertaking, we have decided to temporarily shelve the porting the Birotron to the iPad.

I have been in touch with Honor about joint-venturing this product but they have declined any involvement. We have agreed not to use the Melodica name other than to identify what it is. The name under which we intend to market the product is...
