I think EH stuff is very good, some of them are expensive and you have to learn to use them, they have that old world EMS analog legacy, no sound the same twice, also if you use them in a chain they have no buffering so there are reamping issues more basic requiring more in use and setup unless you keep it simple.
EH Cathedral on my every other note Mellotron sounds fucking glorious!!
One very important thing is that Behringer reverse engineered versions of their fxf is often superior in some ways, newer style construction, quieter but sometimes a slightly compressed sound.
There are some Danelectro Coolcat fx that are copies os Klon and other Boutique fx. I suggest grabbing them you have a problem with Danelactro's anti gay CEO (I have a probalem myself).

Just curious,
Has anyone played around with any of the Electro-Harmonix pedals for their trons? They're a bit expensive, $200 range, but amazing, from "You-tube" clips showing what can be done with them.See Electro-Harmonix Effectology, Vol. 6 "The Mellotron" on You-Tube. It's pretty cool.

yeah, with the exception of the fabled 200, Lexicon UI is awful.

For $60 this is a very, very good reverb. Used with mellotron output, I can dial in exactly what I want quickly. The tone control only effects the wet side of the mix. How nice is that?
http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/RV600.aspxI have a Lexicon MPX500 reverb rack box. The interface and presets are a pain in the ass. This little Behringer box sounds just as good as the Lexicon, has great control knobs and it can sit right beside the keyboards.
There's also a "space" effect which is an octave shifted reverb. It sounds just like the DigiTech Space Station. Instant hard on !
