DoesFiona Apple sing out of tune or is it me? Never quite got her "thing",whatever it is.

She's atrocious. Listen to her 'duet' with Johnny Cash on 'Bridge OverTroubled Water' (which has sampled Mellotron backing, weirdly enough)to hear just how excruciating she is. She's all over the map and backagain. I was pointed in the direction of 'When The Pawn Does TheDoo-Dah And Disappears Up Its Own Fundament, But Now They're Content ToWear Stars On Their Brows' and got as far as track three before I hadto conclude that she has to be stunning to look at because shecan neither compose nor sing were her life to be depending on eithertalent.

fritz...stillkinda surprised Mike likes the Beach Boys, or Brian Wilson, as much ashe does.  That band has always been my torch to carry.

Mainly Brian, but not just Brian. I played 'Pacific Ocean Blue' lastnight for the first time in ages and was just blown away by it. It'snot even bad lyrically which is pretty incredible given that theycouldn't write lyrics to save their lives normally. (The exception isof course the title track with lyrics penned by Mike 'Eco-Guru' Love. Ijust love hearing about 'the slaughter of the otter') The band'srepertoire does of course contain some absolute howling clunkers butthe shining moments more than compensate; for every 'HeyLittle Tomboy' there is a 'Til I Die'. I've just heard 'LoveYou' for the first time ever this week. Wow. Even concussed,Brian Wilson was doing better than most.
