Subject: Re: [newmellotrongroup] Orchestron model B on Ebay

Hi all-

Scary.  Not just a job, an adventure.
I really hope the seller doesn't try to turn it on (as suggested in the Q/A section).  It'll just let out all the blue smoke, and maybe a few flames.

I might go after it if the price is low. It looks like it might have been used as an anchor at some point. It may not be restorable.

One of you guys should pick this up cheap.

I already have one, am very happy with it, and don't need another.

It looks like it has some water damage, but it can be fixed as some people on this list are miracle workers!

The discs look shot, possibly water damaged - which would dissolve the sounds - but it might sound interesting for that reason too.

The Optigan archivist Pea Hicks has the master tapes and is making new Optigan and Orchestron discs, so getting discs isn't a problem anymore.

I like the Orchestron. It's a different colour of the sounds we like here. And I'm sure some of you would like it too if you had the chance to play one.

Listen to Yes Relayer and Kraftwerk's Radioactivity / Trans Europe Express to hear the Choir, Cello, and String sounds.

So someone (competent like Martin or Frank) please buy it and restore it!
