Hi all-
To clarify- The pedal I have is the Yamaha FC7 (not FY7).  Sorry for any confusion.

Since the line out runs through the swell socket to the line out socket, you must have had a contact issue. in the swell pedal socket. Any loss in volume with a swell pedal plugged in would be a function of a faulty potentiometer in the pedal itself.

Is there any rewiring needed to use the Ernie Ball pedal in the volume pedal jack? I have one that I use with my guitars, but I'm using an FC7 with #500. I like the feel of the Ernie Ball better, but I thought it could only be used with the output jack.

I experienced a loss of signal when using the pedal jack, much the same as when I had an ARP String Ensemble.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Since having the ARP, I always use the output jack with my trusty Ernie Ball 6166 -- nice long throw for swells.
