I found this on "Big O". It's pretty self explanatory and worth downloading. There is a lot of good music up right now worth downloading, including a couple of Jeff Beck/Eric Clapton shows.

BRAND NEW BEATLES

February 14, 2010 – 4:01 am

Utilizing the efforts of fan collective Purple Chick, a Beatles fan reminds us of Abbey Road with a fine compilation of the sessions.

THE BEATLES
The Forgotten Abbey Road Sessions [Forgotten Records 2010, 2CD]

Sessions at Abbey Road and Twickenham, January 1969. Ex SBD mono.

The Beatles 1969 sessions have always focused on Let It Be but it also was Abbey Road that was being demoed. In the end, Abbey Road appeared first followed by the final album, Let It Be. An enterprising UK [?]  fan has taken the best bits from the famous Purple Chick set, The Complete A-B Road Sessions [a total of 83 CDs] and done a great job to show the creation of Abbey Road.

It starts with George Harrison briefing the Beatles on Something. You can hear Lennon, a bit miffed by this song, requesting the band to move on to some “rock ‘n’ roll” at the end. His own contribution to the Beatles’ final two albums were overshadowed by McCartney’s output. These sessions show that clearly. John and Yoko, so it has been said, were both “under the influence”.

The first disc is occupied by just two songs, Something and McCartney’s Oh Darling. Paul’s dominance here can also be interpreted as conscientious effort. He has always taken greater care with crafting his songs than Lennon, who was the instinctive and inspired one.

There’s also a lengthy session for Ringo’s Octopus’ Garden which starts off with a beautiful solo piano played by Lennon [?]. It’s nice to hear hearty laughter from this session. The remainder of disc 2 contains bits of the “huge medley” that would be the centrepiece of Abbey Road Side 2. You could call this the Paul McCartney side. The exception is John’s I Want You, inspired funk. That’s Billy Preston on the keys. A lovely acoustic demo of Her Majesty closes this collection.

Sound quality is great here and the compilation is an entertaining listen. Another excellent fly-on-the-wall moment.

The compiler helter_skelter80 has this to say of his work: “This album is Part 1 in a Collection of the best forgotten ‘Abbey Road’ Album Sessions, recorded in Twickenham & Apple Studios in January 1969. Edited from the lossless Complete A/B Road Set, for the very first time this sets pieces together the finest takes of these songs that would ultimately become ‘Abbey Road.’

“This set contains none of the ‘flab’ that many of the ‘Get Back’ Sessions includes, it has been carefully ‘Reworked’ and Edited from the Complete A/B Road Collection to include only the best takes of the tracks that became Abbey Road. No board announcements, etc, just the best of JPGR!”

Also readers should note:

iTunes Info: A tracklisting for both CDs is now on iTunes. Rip this to your iPod (by Apple Lossless) and the tracks will automatically appear!

EQ Info: I would advise using a Vocal Boost EQ for optimum listening. I did not want to EQ the tracks myself, different people have different taste!

This was first shared on Traders Den by helter_skelter80. Thank you. You’ve done Beatles fans a great service.
