Spem In A is really a hard piece to pull off withoutthe words so Mike has had a challenge and it proves yet again that youcan get something wonderful out of 'trons but there has to be musicwith integrity to work with. Mike and I know this piece backwards andhave discussed it's merits for many a long year. It is a masterpieceof 15th century composition, full of controlled yet at times, wilddissonances, sadly discarded when Baroque turned up. Listen for thewild woman towards the end, bladdered on mead and doing free form. Just great.
