I think the idea is that the physicaldynamics of >any< instrument are lost in the “canned” worldof the digital reproducer. At least an Ampico orDuo-Art reproducer does it on the instrument itself. It is likely that after a few hundred yearsthere will be piano-forte instruments and a way out thing like a Mellotron will only be seen in quirky museums, but the sounddoesn’t just come from the base source (like three ladies in Harry Chamberlin’s bedroom), but from >all< theinputs from the reproducing dynamics of the machine that makes the sound thatcomes out the soundboard or, in our case, the speakers
