Subject: Re: [newmellotrongroup] Last Fm and depression

I haven't checked my LastFM page in a while. They fell out of favourwith me when they removed the ability to embed tracks in web pages, which cost me a substantial amount of my web site; I now have to uploadtracks there, rather than manage them all from LastFM.

Having said that, they are pretty good for listeners. Someone in Thairadio picked up on mellotronworks (yes, Thai radio) via LastFMand put together a radio show based around it. Downloads from the website shot up dramatically from that point onwards. A similarthing happened with a chap in Finland - he found me via LastFM. Pity Ispeak neither Thai nor Finnish. I have a lingering fear that I've beenlabelled as 'prog fucking rock' without knowing it. (I haveembellished description that a mere tad)

I have a SoundCloud account too and that doesn't get anywhere near thesame 'coverage'.

For the last few weeks I have been listening to Last FM, hearinglots of music from the 60's to 90's I have not heard before. Quite alot of it seems very good, most of what I have heard would have madevery little for the artists concerned, whilst a lot of music whichseems very poor to me made millions. It's odd and somewhat depressing.I suspect most of the artists concerned woud have preferred to be rich.I note that Mike is on LastFm and so am I, Mike has more listeners sofar!
