Car mechanics can complain about contemporary art. In fact,anyone can complain about art. I'm not a car mechanic, but I certainlycan complain about a car when it is running like a bag of bolts. Thewhole notion of 'you have to be able to do better to complain'is just nonsense, usually concocted by the overly defensive. If thatwere the case then no one would ever complain in a restaurant. Thewhole point is that you are giving time, money or effort to people who shouldbe able to do better. When they fail to live up to that standardyou set you complain. You don't have to be able to do any better!

I lived through reading reviews panning prog rock in preference to
Springstine and Van Morrison.
I love Anderson's lyrics and Gabriels lyrics and Sinfield"s lyrics onthe
first four Crimson albums.
I love Peter Hamill's lyrics. I love Mike Pinder's mellotron work and
don't care how unfashionable it is to say so. I hate this thread. If you
don't get it you don't get it but no need to tear it down.
