I LOVE "Close to the Edge".  I also just picked up Def Leppard's "Pyromania" and "Hysteria" (spelling?), brilliant glossy hyper-pop.  The 3rd movement of Brandenberg#1 always makes me cry. Except for the Requiem mass and a few flute thingies, Mozart is completely overrated.

Best rock/prog lyrics imho?
   - Beatles, great balance of fun, storytelling and bluesky
   -  NWA's "Straight Outta Compton" .  Now THAT album is progressive..and oh yeah...turntables are instruments.

...go ahead...say it ...Def Leppard? That's right and while Spock's beard is a bunch of posers, Def Leppard, at least, has their heart in the right place.  It's a great warmup to ACDC.

If you listen to Hank Williams and still hate lyrics, just go kill yourself.

Why Do you think you shouldn't have voiced your opinion? Isn't that what this forum is for? Ignore Mike... he hides his secret admiration for Mike Pinder and all things Yes.

So to summarise, you don't like the lyrics to most if not all progressive rock and I like some of them. I knew I shouldn't have started this!
