Tony,
What I am doing now is using my old DX7 as the midi controller. I bought the Kenton Pro Solo mkll as the midi to CV converter. I hooked midi out of the DX7 to midi in on the Kenton. I then ran a midi cable from the Kenton midi out to the CV in on the MacBeth and another midi cable from the second out on the Kenton into the gate in on the Macbeth. These 1/4 inch female jacks on lower left hand corner of the M5N.
Mine sounds dastardly good so I bet the M5n is the shit,
Call me and I will walk you through the above process, I did not have the money to buy a new midi controller so I improvised with the DX7
