When John and Martin did a full restoration on #510 in 06 there was no mention of changing my original control panel, and I wouldn't have let them had they asked.
The control panel (flawless in my case thankfully) along with the flickering on/off switch and light are (to me) proof of having an authentic instrument.
Those black faced ones are ghastly, again in my opinion.

When I got my servo motor stuff installed by Streetly they wanted to
change my faceplate to that and also( I think) the sticker on the back
that had my serial number, Luckily they asked my permission and I
specified to keep it original.
