Well, nearest I can figure is Bb on a violin is akin to 3rd position on a guitar. Follow me now. 3rd position in ballet places one foot in front of the other, much like the song in Rankin/Bass' "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" when the dentist-to-be elf, Hermey decides to exude some confidence, which he sorely lacks being such a misfit. Since General Electric produced advertisements using characters from this program, it can be assumed there was some sort of contractual arrangement with the elves, particularly the "Tall Elf", who got cut out of a lot of acenes in the original production, but went on to make a career in Vegas doing cabaret. Sadly, he was found in bed with the the mayor's wife and dissappeared quite suddenly after that.
So what you're saying is the mayor eventually went to jail and therein had to assume the 3rd position, which was to Bb so that his cell mate could score. And that's why it sounds that way. Is that right?
