Subject: Re: [newmellotrongroup] OT - Twitter

I got a couple of gigs out of our myspace page, the annoying animated
ads apart, it is a pretty good way of clagging up a couple of yr tunes
for ppl to listen to, quite direct and simple to operate.

Facebook just seems pointless to me - it doesn't seem to offer
anything beyond what you get with email, and obv, it all belongs to
someone else, so access to anything yuo upload is pretty much at the
whim of whoever owns it? I guess this is a similar problem w/webmail,
gmail, hotmail etc but somehow it seems less, I dunno, less noticeable
with that. I don't know why. It's a problem with myspace too, I
suppose, but if you don't use it as anything other than a little
showroom for your tunes or art or whatever, you can treat it as
disposable. I don't get what Facebook is "for", I don't see why it's
better than email, or a mailing list.

Twitter strikes me as being the stupidest, most pointless web 2.0 app
yet. I cannot imagine why anyone would use it, or read it. No doubt
something even more brainless will be along in 8 months from now,

As an aside, I read somewhere that the plug is being pulled on
geocities soon-ish? I guess that was the web 1.0 version of myspace.
