I use a stereo pair of these onstage and in the studio as my personal keyboard monitors, and I love the convenience, the versatility, and they sound pretty good too. Live, they act as keyboard monitors, mixer, effects, and direct box, which really simplifies playing out and dramatically reduces the number of cables I need.  These are the top model of this series, but they also make a mixerless model that is less costly and there was a predecessor without the iPod dock that you might find as NOS and you can also find them on eBay for significantly less.

Subject: [newmellotrongroup] Powered speakers

The time has come for me to get some speakers for my tron. At present the output is going through a Yamaha MG2cx mixing console to either headphones or a pair of $15 computer speakers. ( Many thanks to whoever suggested a mixer and headphones )

I have just spent most of the week end working on the keyboard and I am happy with the sound and keyboard action. The new tape rack should arrive next week. Still a lot to do but most of what's left is so frightening ( to me at least ) that I would rather not think about it for now and in any case I have pretty much run out of money for this year. I have spent $3600 all told.

So I would like some cheap powered speaker(s). There isn't much on Trademe which is our equivalent of Ebay. My local music shop has some very nice studio monitor speakers but at $1500 they are out of my price range.

Bearing in mind that, it's only me, Carole and the cats that will have to listen to it and that I'll be playing in our hallway any ( polite! ) suggestions?

I can get these mail order for $200 which is about my budget at present.
M-AUDIO STUDIO PRO 3 DESKTOP POWERED MONITOR SPEAKERS

Thanks

Mark

PS Prices quoted are NZ dollars about 74 cents US or 37 pence.
