It's easy to replace tapes. Pulling through takes about 90 minutes. Starting with an empty frame takes the same or less.

∗∗ there really is a neat little tool that you can make that makes this method very easy.

PS. Martin is correct, always demag first. Also, there is a difference between using your tool and playing with it. Stay focused.
