Many thanks Martin, 15th August 1974 it is. I shall bake a cake to celebrate its 34th birthday then . Must have got a new tape set at some stage as it's now 8 Choir,Flute,MarkII strings, I think. If and when you have the time, why did earlier machines have the updated motor controller?

Hi Mark,

1565 had it's final test on 15/8/74.  It had standard Flute/Violins/Cello tapes, a CMC10, signal to noise of minus 59db(good!) and was checked by John Harthill(who taught John B), set up by B.W. Stewart, packed by Eddie Davies and had the frame built by Paul Teal.  The bottom 4 heads have lower output than the rest.  It  has never been near Sound Sales thankfully and was probably sent directly to where it is now.

Best,

Martin
