Have just re attatched the earth cable to the
headblock and low and behold one note works, flute
and choir at least and the whine and hum has gone. To
be honest doesn't sound as good as M-tron just now.
I am ECSTATIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. However I know it
still needs to be taken to bits but hearing something
is great encouragement for the many hours of work
ahead.
Not bad to get anything out of 40 year old instrument
which has been a hotel for mice for the last 15 years.
Many thanks to Frank S for his help so far and to
everybody else who has offered help and advice.
Mark
PS
Best ever mellotron song, no contest, "She said" on
BJH live, does everything and played live, no layering
or excessive messing about with the sound. ( unless it
was one of the tracks that they had to overdub because
the tron broke down half way through the concert,
still a good representation).
There is a live recording of Dark now my sky, but I
haven't heard it, when I saw BJH live in the early
70's it was incredible.
