I also moderate another group (PolySix), where I’ve also voiced the idea of a fundraiser for that group. There was confusion that this would be a yearly requirement. Definitely not so! One time only to do the migration. Afterwards we can go back to the free plan. Only if we need > 1 GB storage we would need a bigger boat - uhm plan.BenOn 18 Oct 2019, at 11:02, Ben Stuyts yahoo@stuyts.nl [newmellotrongroup] <newmellotrongroup@yahoogroups.com> wrote:

As mentioned before, Yahoo is closing down these groups in the near future. I have already opened a new group at https://groups.io/g/mellotron.
I have been looking into the problem of transferring our content (messages, files, photos) over to groups.io. There is an option to migrate all content but it will cost us $110. I could put up a gofundme page, or directly via paypal (probably cheaper) to collect funds. Otherwise, it would be a completely blank slate over there.
The way the transfer to groups.io works is as follows:
- we now have a free plan at groups.io.
- you have to get a premium plan for at least one year. Otherwise you do not have the migration option.
- premium plan for one year costs $110.
- after that first year, the premium plan is no long necessary. Unless you need more than 1 GB storage. (I don’t think so.)
Details are here: https://groups.io/yahootransfer
If we don’t do this:
- I will export the current member list, and import this into groups.io.
- They will then send out invitations to join the new group.
- If someone wants to save their own photos or files, it’s up to themselves to re-upload them to groups.io.
Would there be any interest here in me setting this up? Again, we need $110 to get this done.. (We currently have 200 members.)
Thanks,
Ben
