Subject: Re: [newmellotrongroup] Anybody seen this one?

The Mark II in Markus' booth is s.n. 149 and was acquired from a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (who had acquired it from he-who-shall-not-be-named)

Great story about the Mk 2, Vance. (Pics or it didn't happen.) Anything known about the heritage of #149?

Found a Youtube video showing it (amongst other stuff at Markus’ booth): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35mTntGAGd8

Hey all -
I've been on the lists since pre-Yahoo. I'll stick with it. It's been quiet for so long, but what the heck.....We've got a great eclectic group of enthusiasts. I think you're all pretty interesting. Chris and Frank and Gino and Fritz and Mike and John and Ben and Berington and ....... Myself? Not so much. But I like reading all the posts, no matter how scarce.
Ben and all - Indeed Markus has a booth at NAMM. The digital machines are there, but no Mark IV's - just a an M400 and a Mark II......Wait!! Did you say Mark II?!? Yep. Looks like Markus acquired s.n. 149 and has been able to get the right hand operational. And since Markus knows me from THIS group, I was able to spend about 20 minutes playing and cycling the banks and tossing a few 'Legend of a Mind' pitch sweeps. I hadn't played a Mark II since Dave Kean was still in North Hollywood! It was fun chatting with the curious on-lookers and answering questions.

Hi all,

It’ll probably blow over, as always. Indeed it’s been awfully quiet on this group the past year. Thanks to this subject, there almost have been more message in jan 2018 than in all of 2017.. :)

I don’t see much tron discussion anywhere, really. Mellotron.com has a booth at NAMM, any news about that? Streetly seem to be very busy too.

I'm still here as well. I am with Chris, really - what has to be said has been said a lot before.

It started with mailing lists, then moved to Yahoo groups, then on to web forums, then on to social media. There will be other places to move onto, I suppose, but the more fragmented things get the less chance there is of tracking where anything is or what anyone is saying. The proliferation of social media opportunities has (I think) made it harder instead of easier..

Every time a post comes up here I sort of hope it's interesting, but it seldom is.

As for Clay, he set this group up as an act of kindness when the last one imploded. I'll always be grateful for that.

A lot of what we say about Mellotrons has already been discussed on this site in years past, and over and over again.

So that's why there's almost no traffic..

Regarding the recent 'banter', I've seen this time and time again...

Nothing new. I always forgive everyone, unless there is reason to believe it's malicious.

Usually we're a pretty good group.

Pr'haps only me now. This is the second time I've seen the/a mellotron group self destruct this way. And like the explosion in the previous mellotron group, I have completely missed the original provocation... It must have been really bad.
