Hi,
(note, have seen the MB's many times from 1970 to '74 and two times in the Patrick Moraz days, but never, until last night, as they are currently)
Saw (what's left of) The Moody Blues, also known as, the group formarlly known as The Moody Blues last night (Friday, March 25, 2016).
The sound system was in a word(s), not good.
The keyboard guy, Alan Hewitt seemed to be quite good, but I could not really hear him clearly or hear him at all a lot of the time. That being said, I think that he was using a Memotron as a mellotron. If he was using a Memotron, it seems that they are not wonderful.
I believe that a (Markus) Resch digital mellotron M4000D (his top model) would be the way to go as far as a FREE STANDING dedicated digital mellotron goes. Of course you would need a sound system and someone who knows how to operate it and not what was going on last night to really shine.
Edge, Hayward and Lodge are still great veteran cosmic rockers as are Pinder and Thomas to this day!
Thanks,
George, a.k.a., oldGeorgetron
