I was briefly on Facebook and the mellotron group there which did seem more active, however I really don't like facebook otherwise and closed my account.

A lot of folks have been actively posting in the Facebook groups. I'm also a member of the Yahoo Synthesizers.com group, which has been pretty dead since a very active group was started on Facebook.
