Sorry to be posting one of my own pieces again so soon. You know how it is, nothing for ages then 2 come at once. The title comes from a line that Woolly used in 2 of his songs. The mellotron voice is a version of the 8 choir by Dave Spiers in M-tron Pro.
The group has become increasingly quiet over the last couple of years, ever since Clay sold his Mellotron, I am not sure if there is a connection. It seems that the only topics which cause a flurry of activity are samples and the old Mellotron vs Streetly thing.
I am not sure how many active members there are now or what sort of group people want. Obviously there are several people on the list with great technical expertise and the list remains a great place for getting information on mellotrons.
I may be in a minority of one, but the group I would like to see would have many more members posting examples of their own work using mellotrons and more discussion in the ways mellotrons can be used to make music. First and foremost I suppose that is my main interest in mellotrons now and I am not bothered whether it’s a real mellotron, Redtron, M-tron pro or a digital Mellotron. There are differences but they are not so great as to make much difference to me as far as the music is concerned.
Would there be any interest from list members to either move this group in that direction or perhaps set up a complimentary group with that sort of focus?
Anyway I would be interested in other’s views.
Cheers
Mark
