If you are going digital, try the iPad Mellotronics M3000 app or GForce MTron Pro. Both sound more authentic that the M4000D at a fraction of the cost. If you need an actual keyboard, wait for the new Memotron from Manikin. It's a dream.

As far as I am concerned the only replacement for an M400 is an M4000 without the D. ` If I want to play digital samples  I am not going to rebuy old technology. I get out my ASR10 or my laptop and the Pinder CD.

Apologies if this has been covered before. I recently sold my M400, and though I'll miss it, I look forward to the convenience of a "digital Mellotron". I'm kind of leaning toward the M4000D because of the polyphonic aftertouch. Any thoughts from the group? I don't think I'll ever be able to play either of them to "test them out", so I'm curious to hear what people think.
