Subject: Re: [newmellotrongroup] layers

I really liked the sound of the old viola layered with the M300A strings, which became the 'Dickstrings' sound. It's actually even better with a bit of cello under it, although the is layering together three sounds that have some serious tuning differences of opinion.

Not quite the same thing, but playing the solo flute, the IMCD flute and the bass flute together gives a fair simulation of the great, swell and bass consoles of a pipe organ for those weepy moments.

I'm working on a personal tune and just love the sound of 3 violins doubled with M300A strings and then panned hard left and hard right, no reverb.  Really lush, yet the moving voices are not obfuscated by drenching them in verb.  Great for long legato parts.

Any one else have layer tricks they like?
