Subject: RE: [newmellotrongroup] Job? Hobbies? Special Skills?

I am currently a technical project manager contracted to the University of Washington, Bioengineering Department

in Seattle, WA.  I commute once or twice a months to Seattle from my home in Stockton, CA.  I started off as an Electrical Engineer

in the 70’s.  I designed and built recording studios and video editing suites.  I owned an electronic repair shop and a music store.  I owned

and operated an avionics and mobile radio sales and service shop at the Stockton airport.  I later designed security and surveillance

electronics.  I owned a server colocation business and provided IT support to the private and public sector.  I have been self employed

for most of my life.  From the early 70’s forward I played guitar and keyboards in various groups, mainly rock and some blues.  During

that time I played a Hammond C3 with two 122 Leslies and just about any vintage keyboard you can think of with the notable exception

of a Mellotron which I always wanted but for some reason I never acquired…although I did play a couple on recordings (and repaired a few).

I have pretty much retired from playing due to some health issues but still mix live shows and record and master for a few select groups as I have

the time.  I have three wonderful kids.  My son David just moved out to Lebanon, OR to fight fires and my oldest daughter Kelsy is moving to Seattle, WA

in a couple of weeks to advance her medical testing career.  That will leave me with my youngest daughter Ashley still living at home.  Our three

wonderful dogs are Andy (little white dog), Jake (Burmese Mountain dog), and Jack the German Shepard.  Andy (and possibly Jake for protection) will

be going to Seattle with my daughter.  My hobbies are off-roading (4X4), firearms, camping, walking my dogs, and working on special projects with my crazy

physicist buddy Dave Navone.  I think that about covers it…….short version anyhow.

I have been a mastering engineer and producer my entire adult life,  These days I have been building analog synthesizer modules (over 80), some gunsmithing of Curios & Relics, but it all goes out the window when my dogs are around.

I'm a composer and creative director at a commercial music production house. I'll tear stuff apart and put it back together if needed.

I'm sure there's more to our lives than just Mellotrons. So, what else do you do?I'm an IT guy with The Hartford, but I'm retiring at the end of this year. I'm primarily a bass guitarist, but I fool around on guitar, keys and modular synth. Other hobbies/skills are model and high power rocketry, martial arts (American-style Kenpo Karate, Chinese Wushu, Japanese Ninjutsu), traveling, walking in the park with Wifey and watching my stepdaughter struggle through college.OK, your turn.Bernie
