What is interesting is that I have a B rig that is mostly Danelectro and Behringer and DIY stuff and it gets most of  the job done. except in the  OD distortion dept.

Here is a likely BOM of the Sola Tonebender I had taken. I say Sola but all the lettering was worn off the case

Pnp germanium transistor Hfe 50-60

Pnp germanium transistor Hfe 140-160

Npn would be fine too, the only real caveat is the leakage has to be on the low side

C225uf

C30.1uf

C40.1uf

Q1OC75, OC81, 2G381 or PNP Germanium  Hfe 40-80

Q22G381 or PNP Germanium Hfe 40-80

Q32G381 or PNP Germanium Hfe 120-200+

The higher the Hfe the lower the noise and leakage

Other likely types some very rare

Gino,

I did a quick web search for germanium transistors for sale. Maybe one of the links on this page will be helpful:

http://www.bing.com/search?q=germanium+transistors+for+sale&qs=AS&form=QBLH&pq=germanium+tran&sc=8-14&sp=2&sk=AS1

You could also try emailing Eric at STG Soundlabs. He builds 5U synth modules with vintage components.
