Subject: Re: Another M400 Question

I'm beginning to think that the backs of the tapes that were bunching up in my M4oo are dirty. I hadn't cleaned the pinch rollers since I installed them a couple of years ago and I've been using the same frame for several weeks. It looks like the backs of the tapes were sticking to the pinch rollers. After cleaning the pinch rollers, heads and capstan, the tapes were still bunching up, so I tried a different frame. No bunching at all. Do tapes need to be cleaned every so often? What do you use to clean them?
