The kernel of creativity lies in that apparent limitation.  Y'ever muck around with a keyboardless synthesizer?  A shit-ton of fun my friend and a real good way to get into aleatory composition  (I know, I know...somewhat of an oxymoron).  Think of the turntable as one big modulation knob.....
