Hello everybody.
I've got a Mellotron, Orchestron and Optigan.
I don't see the Orchestron as a replacement for a Mellotron. It is a total different experience in sound, technique and playing. But, having all possible discs for the Orchestron, I can say that there are lots of great sounds. Recently I used French Horn, reversed piano and String Ensemble for a recording and I have to say, it sounds great. I will post the track here (there's also Mellotron in it) as soon as the artist decides to release it.
I've got some videos on Youtube (search "dietervanmarcke") which will show the differences in the two instruments.
I have to say that the motor of the Orchestron, at the time of recording these videos, was quite wobbly.
