Hey Martin, You shouldn’t hate the band that is probably most responsible for the Mellotron being known by the ordinary musician.
I am sure they influenced many of the sales in the old days.
….But that is NOT a Mellotron doing the pipes on CTTE…..it’s a synth live and the real deal on the album.
I saw it preformed many times.
Cheers,
Gary

Isn't the church organ part on Close To The Edge the St John's Wood Mellotron sound ?

Hi Paul,
The recording was made around 70/71 and was released in the M400 catalogue. Far too late for the MKII.

Hi All
I popped in to the church today to have a look at the organ I have so much fun with (no, I mean the other one). Must get to hear it some time.
I read on t'internet that this is not the original 1862 one but a replacement installed 1912, if anyone cares about such tedious trivia.
Does anyone know when the recordings were made, and was it on the Mk1 and Mk11?
Paul
