Yes, it's the 8 voice chior and its an incorrect traditional string quartet of three violins and cello. Seems odd that no one could find a violist for a true quartet. I have the viloins on another tape, but I plan on using this tape the most, and the quartet sounded a bit more full with the cello added. I did not see tapes for sale the at Streetly site, maybe I missed something? What do they charge for a set racked ready to go?

I would love to have the complete vibes, celeste and another sound as well. Gets so expensive. Maybe somebody wants to trade a rack, I can see myself using the stock flute/cello/strings the least.

I have not done a lot of research yet on new tapes, are there any big differences between Streetly's and Markus's tapes?

Is Mixed Choir the same as the 8 Choir? That's the most famous one. There's also a combined Choir that's 8 Choir+Boys Choir. Never heard of String Quartet. Is it Cello+Viola+Violins?

I just received a set of tuned Cello/Chamberlin Violins/MkII Flute on EMI tape from Streety Electronics. The EMI tape is the original Mellotron tape...plays well and sounds great. The Chamberlin Violins are the same as the MkII Violins, but at least one generation newer. They sound somewhere between the M400 Violins and the MkII Violins. In my "purist" past, I would have ordered untuned tapes, but it's worth it to get tuned tapes. I'm pretty sure yours will default to tuned tapes.

I have a m400 with two sets of tapes in my attic recording studio. Works ok but I have to futz with it a lot, but I knew when I bought it that there was going to be a learnig curve. I just love it. One set of tapes is the standard flute, cello, and strings. The other set is kinda weird. It has six sounds each divided at the center key, plus some sound effects at the end of one of the sounds. How common was that? The crappy part about that is that the sound effects are on the choir half, leaving me only an octave of choir, I wish it had been the flutes! The choir is my favorite sound, so I just ordered a new set of tapes with full choirs from Markus Resch. I look forward to reading and hopefully getting a few question answered.
