Hi all- I am contemplating a rebuild on my M400's power supply. My earlier refurbishing was just for the immediate problems(fuse relocated in relation to the swich, fixed loose wires), but it never felt complete. I will be replacing aging wires, improving connections, and eliminating the unused sections & components (I have an SMS-3 controller). The old power connector will be replaced with an new IEC configuration. The supply caps were probably replaced when the SMS-3 was added, as they are a much higher value than the 'tron examples I have seen (the big one is 7500uf), so they are probably good. I will look for a date code on them, though. What other improvements can be done? How much of a problem are the original octal connectors? All suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks -Bruce D. |
