Utter pedantry. No need to apologize Bruce. The expression "I could care less" is common usage, at least in the U.S. and means the same thing as "I couldn't care less."

The reason for this seeming contradiction is that it is said with sarcasm, as in "as if ..." Anyone interested can find a good essay on the subject (by a British author no less) here:

The spell checker doesn't catch "the" for "they" does it Mike. See, I can be pedantic too :-)
