Is that why some groups traveled with three in the hopes one would get them through the gig.
They may very well be better built with the M4000 and MK V but the stories of the old ones failing mid-gig
have been numerous since the 60’s. Just as the early synths had tuning issues with temp & voltage
variances. Denial doesn’t make it go away. It’s just part of the history of the instrument and it’s
reputation earned over a couple of decades. Why do you think they are rarely seen on stage today when
B3 & C3s (much older than the Mellotron) are on stages everywhere. And actually I was joking with
John…..you seem to be overly sensitive on the issue which I understand but it really wasn’t a cheap shot
directed at you in any case Martin.
Apologies
Cheers,
G

All stuff and nonsense. Jean Michel Jarre toured the world with a MKII in 1997/98 and the only mishap was when the wagon hit a HUGE pothole in Siberia or some such aplace and a tape jumped out of the guide either side'o'the headblock. The beast still works and has never been serviced since. The horror stories are not as prevelant as the myth implies.
