I had some correspondence with Dave Kean about 10 years ago and he confirmed that Pinder wasn't really involved at all but gave it his "endorsement". i was under the impression, though, that a MkII ,M300,M400 and MI were all used and equipped with nice fresh tapes.

To my knowledge it's regular 400's and Pinder had little actual involvement other than as a yay / naysayer to the final edits.
