I have friends that visit there regularly and they love it. Defacing a beautiful building is something done regularly here in California. Sorry to hear that practice has spread to your country. There are ways to allow wheelchair access without this “vandalism” but in California they have “standards” set by people who couldn’t be further out of touch with reality if they tried. California is a beautiful place in spite of the insane people that run it. I hope I get to see Edinburgh someday but so far I only get to see and hear about it through my friends pictures and stories………

Edinburgh is a beautiful city, probably unlike any other you'll ever see and I am most fortunate to live right in the centre of it. Having said that, the vandalism wreaked upon the Usher Hall in that 'rebuild' is just horrendous. The interior is the same (and is as acoustically good as ever) but the outside looks horrible. i am led to believe that this was carried out entirely because people in wheelchairs have (obviously) been queuing up in their thousands demanding access to the top circle, which meant building ramped access and lifts....
Or...maybe they haven't.

Hi All..
I seems to me that Mike Pinder isn't the only guy on the planet who can play a mellotron. Given how important it is/was to their sound, why not ditch (most of) their electronic keyboards and bring back a 'tron. Even if it's gimmicky, a mellotron backed concert with their reduced numbers is a concert I might go to see.

I can't remember if I have told this before, but here goes again. About six years ago the Moody Blues were playing (quite literally) on the other side of my street at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh. I'm not interested in seeing them at all but I did offer them the use of my M400. I went across the street, spoke to the desk there who got me the road manager (or someone similar). I explained I have a Mellotron with loads of tapes and that it was free for them to use that night if they so wished.
The response? 'No thanks, mate - they're just shit'.
Oh well..
