Hi all-

Denver Colorado also had a Mellotron outlet in the '70s.  A gentleman named Ed Scheaffer sold electronic keyboards out of his house on the west side of Denver.  Quite a place to visit.  He had the walls of his home modified to allow high sound volume inside, and not disturb the neighbors.  It worked.  He had Moog, ARP, Oberheim, RMI, Hammond, and a few other brands I can't recall.  A friend and I visited him twice in my high school years, just to goof around with the synths.  Surprised the hell out of me on the second visit when he had the Mellotron M400, and I couldn't keep away from it.  I wonder what happened to that particular 'Tron.

Hi Sean,

We used to have a Mellotron Dealer here in Stockton, CA. in the 70’s.

It was called Valley Organ.  I only remember seeing a 400 there in the showroom.

Gary

Makes me wonder, how many MkIIs are unaccounted for? (I also wonder how Mellotrons made it to California's Central Valley, my bet: 0)

I've got a pipe dream, that someday I'll have the money, and have the guys at Streetly build me a new MkII. The size and looks of those things command respect.
