Subject: Re: [newmellotrongroup] Re: just throwing this out there too

(Sigh) I'm sorry to burst your dream bubble,  but Streetly's M4000 or M5000 is the closest you are ever going to get as far as a "reproduction MK II or M300".

The manufacturing jigs for the MK II's were dumped long ago.
Otherwise, they could be made.

As far as MK II's and Orchestrons go, there is probably still an equal amount of each of them out there - but probably well under 100.

Though there were more MK II's Mellotrons made than Orchestrons, it matters more how many are left as opposed to how many were originally made.

Frank S. (Frank # 1)  had compiled a short list of the remaining / accounted for machines - all the different "Trons" but I don't recall how up to date it is.

I know this topic came up last year or the year before. I think it's something that's worth revisiting once in a while.

Makes me wonder, how many MkIIs are unaccounted for? (I also wonder how Mellotrons made it to California's Central Valley, my bet: 0)

I've got a pipe dream, that someday I'll have the money, and have the guys at Streetly build me a new MkII. The size and looks of those things command respect.
