Hey Gary,

It's a sandwich starting with a stick of Cuban bread split in half, (a lot like French that they put a Palm frawn on marking it), then a nice layer of mayo and mustard mix, thinly sliced pork, salami, swiss cheese, 2 or 3 round pickles (nothing special about them), probably lightly seasoned, then the top goes on. Placed in a press and warmed and squeezed into a very tasty experience. Along with it (optional but makes the package for me) stuffed potato. It is ground beef in the center of basically mashed potato, then quick fried.
Most people will slice it open (I do) and some hot sauce added to taste.

After mentioning it earlier, I went out for one and just bad timing as the only place near me was closed for the holiday!
Now in the Cuban part of town (Ybor city), they're better, and another area is called Bolece Blvd (sp?), where many Cuban restaurants are, is probably 45 mins South of me and I was too hungry to brave it.

Tampa, Fl the stop light capital of America, I'd swear, lol.
Ybor City was the cigar center of the US (pre automation) and you can still watch them roll and buy them.
Just no Cuban tobacco.

Sorry about the lengthy reply, but I try to answer as completely as possible.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to ALL!
Tony

Hey Tony, Pardon my ignorance…I used to enjoy a good Cuban cigar but what is a Cuban sandwich?

Sure that would be fun!

Set you guys with some incredible, local Cuban soul food!

Nothing like a freshly made Cuban sandwich and a stuffed potato with hot sauce!

And the Mellotron is here too, lol.

Thank you Robert. Just a thought... why not make a day of it and drive to Tampa and visit Tony. I'm sure he would be happy to show you his Mellotron.

Happy new year.

Hi Andy,

I'm from and have lived in Miami-Dade County all my life.  Do you live anywhere close by ?

I am not a mellotronist buy I love all mellotron sounds; not just the most popular sounds that are mostly used.  I have been a serious music collector for about 40 years and love all styles of music.  I joined this forum about a year ago, mainly for the purpose of learning a little about mellotrons from mellotronists.  I have learned a lot although some of the technical discussions have been "over my head".

For over 3 years, I have been "searching" for somebody in the area I live who owns a working mellotron and that would be willing to let me see and hear it "in person"; no luck whatsoever.  I believe I need to do this in order to determine whether owning a real mellotron is "right" for me.

If your M400 mellotron needs major work, I recommend that you contact "Frank2" in Virginia (he has already corresponded with you through this forum).  I am confident that he will do you right, and that your mellotron will function, play, and sound beyond your dreams.  Just a thought...

Happy New Year !

Robert
