Subject: M400 Volume Pedal

Good Evening, one and all. Happy new year, when it arrives in your location on the planet - I've still got about 6 hours to go.
My M400 doesn't have a volume pedal, so I'm going to make one. Assuming it's nothing more than a linear potentiometer connected to a standard 1/4-inch stereo jack-plug, I just need to know the following...
1) What value pot do I need? Does it matter?
2) Which contact on the jack-plug connects to the wiper of the pot? I don't care about the connections to the pot's end-stops, as I propose to use a 2P2W switch to reverse the pot action, so they will go to the remaining plug contacts.

P.S. Someone cracked a Scottish joke recently, supposedly at my expense. It didn't work, cos I'm English. So, I can also crack a few of my own...
1) The Channel Tunnel wasn't bored. Apparently, a Scotsman was walking on the White Cliffs of Dover when he dropped a 10 pence coin down a rabbit burrow.....!
2) Woman - "Hey, Jock....is there anything worn under your kilt?
Jock - "Nae, lassie...it's in fine working order!"
3) A soccer purist is one who goes to a Celtic - Rangers match to watch the football!!!
