Hi all,
As Frank has put up some excellent photos in recent times, thought it was time to share the rebuild of my beloved #1380.
Until Autumn 2009 she was in a T550 style flightcase which I had never really been happy with and so I decided that the iconic white box was the only way to go.
First port of call was the good folks at Streetly to see whether a surplus M400 cab was available. This proved not to be the case so I decided to build my own. I am an electrical engineer and not a joiner so this proved to be incredibly difficult and time consuming, but I am quite pleased with the result... Finnish birch ply and a LOT of precision routing, dowelling and sanding. The final finish was left to the experts at Streetly, my baby was taken to their paint shop and I am WELL impressed. Streetly were also invaluable for various bits and bobs which needed replacing as the rebuild progressed.
Refitted with the innards and restored to full working order by Christmas Day 2009 as a little present to myself. See what you think. And a BIG thankyou to Martin and John for their enthusiasm, help and advice, you guys are top :-)
I have loads more photos including the woodworking activity, if anyone is interested I will have a go at uploading to the group site (never done this before either).
Seasons greetings to all, Paul M.
